MENTORSHIP and PHOTOBOOK DESIGN by LUMINOUS EYE

Luminous Eye offers for 2022 a very tempting inclusive proposal for photographers who, after an engagement with photography, have created a set of work that they would like to organize, develop, and complete in order to come up with a print-ready book.

Send us the project you want to see developed and completed.

Two of the submitted proposals will be selected to participate in an annual mentoring program by Vassilis Gerontakos and Haris Kakarouchas that will result, after the selection and editing of the photographic material, in the design of a book by Pavlos Pavlidis.

This will make you understand the whole process of organizing, editing and designing a photographic work that results in a photo book.

Along with the two photographers who will be selected for the mentoring program, four more photographers will be selected to participate in a group exhibition that will be part of the 2023 exhibition program of the Luminous Eye Gallery.

More specifically, the members of the Luminous Eye team:

Vassilis Gerontakos and Haris Kakarouchas will offer their knowledge and experience

  • to guide each photographer in order to achieve a print-ready book
  • to curate a group exhibition at Luminous Eye with photos of the six selected photographers and

Pavlos Pavlidis will be in charge of

  • the graphic design and pagination of the two photography books
  • the exhibition’s graphic design support.

This invitation is addressed to photographers who already have a set of photographs and want to complete it and prepare it for publication or exhibition.

During the twelve (12) months period of mentorship, the two selected photographers will be personally monitored, either in person or online, by their advisors and given the opportunity to exchange views and listen to helpful comments and valuable tips on their photographic approach, image editing and sequencing, with the aim to achieve at the end of the period a complete print-ready project. The details of the guidance (physical or online meetings, duration and frequency of meetings) will evolve through the close personal relationship of consultant – photographer. Each consultant will take a special interest in the project and the photographer under his guidance.

Communication will be made in Greek or English.

Please note that the printing and publishing of the book is not included in this mentoring program.
